Canceling your subscription

Canceling stops your subscription and closes your workspace. Nothing is deleted right away: everything you have stays for 90 days, and paying again before that date brings the whole workspace back exactly as it was. This guide covers canceling in order: what happens the moment you cancel, what you keep, how to come back, and what happens if you never do.

Canceling your subscription

On the Billing page, click Cancel subscription. Only the workspace owner sees this button. A box titled Cancel your subscription opens and tells you first whether a refund applies.

  • Inside the refund window — within 30 days of your first charge, or within 14 days of a renewal you did not choose — there is one card, Refund this period and close today. Click Refund and close today, type your workspace’s name to confirm, and the whole payment for the current period is refunded as the workspace closes.
  • Outside the refund window there is no refund, and two cards to choose from. Stop subscription at the end of the period keeps your full access until the period you have paid for ends, then closes the workspace. Stop subscription now closes the workspace today instead.

Both Refund and close today and Stop subscription now ask you to type your workspace’s name first. Stop subscription at the end of the period doesn’t ask for that, because nothing happens right away. To close the box without changing anything, click Keep my subscription.

If you had a newsletter campaign scheduled to send, closing the workspace returns it to draft. It won’t send.

What you keep, and for how long

The moment your workspace closes, it stops doing anything. Newsletters stop sending, your website stops updating, and any book cards or buy buttons you’ve embedded elsewhere stop working. Beta readers can no longer reach the manuscripts they were reading. Your published website itself is unaffected — it’s hosted on your own account, not inside Pubblish. Your smart links keep resolving too, for as long as your workspace exists.

None of it is deleted. Your workspace and everything in it — titles, editions, contracts, sales figures, settings — stay for 90 days from the day it closes. We email you when it closes, then again 30 days, 7 days and 1 day before the deletion date.

Anyone who opens the workspace during those 90 days sees one page. It says the workspace is closed and names the deletion date. Nothing else opens. The page offers two buttons: Pay to come back and Download your data. Paying is owner-only; downloading depends on your role. If you can’t use one, the page tells you to ask a workspace owner or administrator instead.

Getting it back

Canceling isn’t final until the 90 days run out. Pay again before the deletion date and your whole workspace comes back exactly as it was — same titles, same editions, same settings.

Click Pay to come back on the closed page, or go to the Billing page directly. Which button you press there depends on where your cancellation stands. If you chose Stop subscription at the end of the period and that date hasn’t arrived yet, your subscription is still alive at Paddle — click Keep subscription to undo the cancellation. If it has already ended, choose a plan and check out again with Resubscribe on the plan cards. Either way, only the workspace owner can do it.

While you’re closed, your book cards, buy buttons and newsletter sign-up forms stay offline. Nothing comes back until you pay.

Taking your data with you

You don’t need to come back to get your data. Download your data works right up to the deletion date, closed workspace included. Click Download your data — on the closed page, or on Settings if you still have access some other way — and Pubblish builds you a copy in the background.

Ask for it early. A backup that includes your uploaded files can take longer than 24 hours to build, and the deletion runs on its date whether or not you’ve downloaded anything.

If you do nothing

Ninety days after your workspace closes, it and everything in it are permanently deleted, along with any Pubblish account that existed only for that workspace. There’s no recovering it after that date. The emails along the way are your only warning.
